vegan food pyramid

Is this cool or what?

Use this chart as if your life depended on it...just kidding. This is a pretty good approximation of what a good, balanced vegan diet should be. I can't say I follow this everyday, but I strive to, and on most days come pretty close. I encourage you to do the same. Remember, set the bar real high and if you miss it, you'll still be pretty close to your objective.

So remember, drink 8-10 glasses of water each day; be sure to eat 3-5 servings of vegetables and 2-4 servings of fruits; eat 6-11 servings of whole grains, bread, rice and pasta; don't forget the dairy substitues, 2-3 servings of soy milk, soy yogurt, etc.; don't miss out on the legumes - seeds and beans group - 2/3 servings of these to help build muscle; and finally the nuts and oils - consume sparingly. If your diet is low in carbs, I would suggest moderate portions.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, so please feel free to post your comments here.
