Ingredients

  • 4 cups dried chickpeas.
  • 1 medium tomato.
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, grated.
  • 1 medium onion, grated.
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil.
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala powder.
  • 2 red/green chili peppers.
  • 1/2 tablespoon red chili powder.
  • fine sea salt to taste.
  • 1/2 tablespoon jeera.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated.
  • 6 coriander leaves.
  • 1 tablespoon lime/lemon juice.

Instructions
  • Soak chickpeas in water overnight.
  • Bring a pot of water to a boil.
  • Add salt and chickpeas and cook until chickpeas are soft.
  • Grind 1 cup of cooked chickpeas with 1/2 onion, 1/2 tomato, ginger, chili, chili powder, salt and garam masala powder.
  • Over medium heat, add oil to pan.
  • Add jeera and 1/2 onion.
  • Cook onion until translucent.
  • Add 1/2 tomato and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add ground chickpeas combination and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add remaining 3 cups of cooked chickpeas.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add coriander leaves and lime/lemon juice.
  • Cook for another minute.
  • Serve hot.
